about achoz

achoz is a personal offline search engine. it indexes your emails, files, fediverse posts, and telegram messages — all stored locally in a single sqlite database with FTS5 full-text search.

what it indexes

• email (imap, via fetch_emails.py)

• sqlite FTS5 with porter unicode61 tokenizer
• no external services, no elasticsearch, no cloud
• ahotml-compliant html (single file, no js required)
• follows uproot structure — older data compresses and degrades over time
• 567mb quota (hard cap)

disclaimer

achoz is libre software (FUPL). it indexes your data locally — nothing leaves the machine. the search is intentionally lowercase-only because the author has a thing about never writing in uppercase. this is a feature, not a bug.

this instance indexes acauema's data as a proof of concept — emails, sessions, and soon fediverse posts and telegram messages.
